New Delhi: Sonia Gandhi, the Chief of the Congress Parliamentary Party, has penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, outlining a series of critical issues for discussion during the upcoming special Parliament session slated for later this month. The letter, shared by senior party leader Jairam Ramesh, highlights nine key subjects of national importance.

According to media reports, Gandhi's missive calls for in-depth deliberations on the prevailing economic situation, with a specific focus on concerns related to price escalation and mounting unemployment. Additionally, the letter underscores the recent revelations concerning the Adani group and advocates for the establishment of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate this matter.

Furthermore, Sonia Gandhi emphasizes the urgent necessity for a comprehensive caste census and seeks discussions on several other significant topics. These include the alleged threats to India's federal structure, the management of natural disasters, particularly in light of recent floods across several states, the situation along the India-China border, incidents of communal tensions across the nation, and the ongoing situation in Manipur.

The Congress announced the issuance of this letter following extensive discussions among Opposition parties, all of whom are preparing to raise these vital issues during the special Parliament session, scheduled to convene from September 18 to 22.

In addition to these concerns, Sonia Gandhi's letter also highlights a perceived lack of transparency in the government's agenda for the session, which was initially announced on August 31.
