Bhatkal: "We fully support the withdrawal of the cow slaughter prohibition law, and the seer of the mutt shouldn't interfere in it," said Karnataka State Farmers Association and Green Sena State President Kodihalli Chandrashekar during a press conference in Sirsi. He emphasized that this matter concerns farmers, and the seer should not intervene in the issue.

Chandrashekar stated that farmers should be given the autonomy to make decisions about cows in the state, and political figures and seers should not emotionally blackmail them, as it affects the farmers' economy.

Regarding India's continuous milk and milk product sales in the US for 12 years, there is enough storage to avoid running out. Chandrashekar believes that the Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act also intends to harm dairy farming. He expressed concerns that even if the illegal movement of cows is stopped, there might not be adequate maintenance afterward.

Although the BJP government withdrew the agriculture bill at the center, it was not withdrawn from the state. This has raised fears that multinational companies might enter the agricultural sector, leading to a potential risk of 75% of agricultural lands being sold in the next 10 years.

The Karnataka State Farmers Association supported the Congress because they promised to withdraw the bill. Chandrashekar demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to withdraw the bill immediately without any pretext.

He also mentioned an incident during Yeddyurappa's tenure as Chief Minister when the Agriculture Bill was enacted. However, Siddaramaiah, who was the leader of the opposition party at that time, assured the farmers that he would raise his voice against the Act and even included it in the manifesto. But after coming to power, Siddaramaiah changed his stance, which Chandrashekar criticized, stating that the agriculture bill should be withdrawn immediately if Siddaramaiah has the power to rule. Otherwise, there would be no difference between Congress and BJP.

Chandrashekar pointed out that the income of the revenue department increased from 2-3 thousand crore rupees to 25 thousand crores, indicating a significant increase in the sale of agricultural land. He stressed the need to stop this trend.

He highlighted the lack of awareness among farmers about the implications of the Agriculture Act, expressing concerns about attempts to involve corporate and MN companies. This could lead to 75 percent of the farmers losing their land in ten years, causing an increase in agricultural land prices.
