Thieves steal Rs. 2.12 lakh from a govt college in Kumta

Kumta: Thieves forcibly entered the principal's room at Hanumanta Benne Government Pre-Graduation College in Nellikeri by breaking the lock and made away with Rs. 2.12 lakh from the locker. The theft occurred late on Tuesday night but was reported only after a complaint was filed on Thursday.

Sources reveal that Satish Naik, the college principal, discovered the theft when he arrived at the college on Wednesday morning. The culprits had broken into his room and stolen the substantial amount from the locker.kumta-theft

The culprits also tampered with the college's CCTV cameras while carrying out the robbery. Not limiting their intrusion to the principal's room, the thieves also broke the lock of the college staff's restroom in an attempt to pilfer.

The college principal, Satish Naik, reported the incident to the Kumta police station on Thursday. The police promptly registered a case and dispatched a team to the scene for investigation. Forensic experts collected fingerprints and other evidence to aid in further probing the matter.
