Bhatkal: Uttara Kannada (UK), including Bhatkal, has been experiencing torrential rains with stormy winds since Sunday morning. As a result, there are reports of fallen trees in some areas. The roof of Al-Falah Masjid in the Nastar area, under the jurisdiction of Mundali Panchayat, was blown off and crashed between a house roof, a coconut tree, and an electric pole. Locals reported that, fortunately, no one was harmed as children were not outside the mosque due to the rain, and there was no movement of people during the rain.
Local residents said that around five o'clock in the evening, it was raining heavily with stormy winds. Some people had entered the mosque to avoid the rain when suddenly the tin roof of the mosque was blown away.
It was reported that on normal days, children often play in the courtyard of the mosque and people walk around. However, due to the rain, the children were confined to their homes, and some people took shelter inside the mosque, waiting for the rain to stop when the incident occurred.
