Karwar: Amidst heavy rainfall and turbulent seas, two tourists at Karwar beach in Uttara Kannada disregarded safety warnings, putting their lives at risk.
Despite repeated warnings and advisories, these tourists ventured into the stormy waters at Rabindranath Tagore Beach in Karwar. The situation became dangerous as heavy rains caused the sea to become extremely rough, with waves crashing violently against the shore.
Lifeguards and police officers had to intervene and forcibly pull them out of the water. A video clip of the incident went viral on social media, showing authorities scolding and slapping the tourists who ignored the danger and entered the sea.
The India Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert in Uttara Kannada on Monday, cautioning people to stay away from the water. Red flags were also placed along the beach to signal hazardous conditions, but the warnings went unheeded by these tourists.
Officials have urged the public to respect safety advisories and avoid venturing into the sea during such dangerous conditions.
