Udupi: Dr. K. Arun, Udupi District Superintendent of Police, announced that Praveen Arun Chowgale (39) had been arrested on Tuesday in Kudachi, Belagavi district, in connection with the massacre of four family members, including an air hostess in Nejaru, is currently facing intensive interrogation.
Speaking at the Udupi SP office, he emphasized that if the suspect's involvement in the murder case is confirmed during the investigation, he will be arrested and brought before the court in accordance with the law. Five teams have been assembled to explore various dimensions of the case, and the accused was taken into custody under Kuduchi Police Station before being transported to Udupi for questioning.
Dr. Arun mentioned that the interrogation is in progress, and additional details are awaited. Based on technical and intelligence information, the suspect was apprehended, and further information, including the motive behind the murders, is anticipated to be revealed through interrogation.
The SP assured that the suspect will be presented before the court upon the completion of the investigation.
Additional case-related information will be shared after the case investigator submits a report. It has been disclosed that the suspect was associated with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and not the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Investigations into his potential service in the Civil Police are currently underway.
During the investigation, 15-20 suspects, including Praveen, were taken into custody and interrogated.
The SP confirmed that more information will be provided later in the evening.
As a precautionary measure against potential rumors, heightened police security has been implemented at all relevant locations.
