Udupi: A young woman in Udupi has been cheated out of Rs. 7,65,000 under the guise of overseas employment.

The victim, Ima V, received a WhatsApp message on August 20, 2022, offering a lucrative job abroad.

Trusting the proposition, Ima transferred the money in multiple transactions to a specified bank account between August 23 and November 7. To her dismay, no promised visa materialized, and the fraudster vanished with the funds.

A case has been officially registered at the Udupi Sen police station, prompting an ongoing investigation.

Authorities caution the public to be vigilant against such scams and report suspicious activities.
