Tanker topples on Bengaluru-Mangaluru Highway; traffic diverted after leakage detected

Mangalore: Police banned vehicular movement via Shiradi Ghat till Thursday morning after a tanker toppled on the ghat at around 5.45pm on Wednesday between Bengaluru-Mangaluru  National Highway 75, near Puttur.

According to the sources, the accident happened near Kodyakallu near Gundya  in the Puttur taluk. The tanker was heading towards Mangaluru from Bengaluru. After the incident, the traffic was diverted towards Bantawal route, which shall connect Charmadi road or Madikeri road.

Acting on the tip-off, the fire brigade personnel along with other officials rushed to the spot and were successful in blocking the leakage. As the large quantity of the gas was leaked, the road was kept closed until 7:30 am of  Thursday.
