Karwar: District Minister R V Deshpande said he will meet Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman and urge her to transfer the defence estate officer’s office from Bengaluru to Karwar to solve pending cases of Seabird project evacuees. Speaking to reporters after participating in a Kannada Rajyotsava programmes in the city on Wednesday, he said many people who have lost their hand for the Seabird project have not been given proper compensations. The Defence Ministry agreed to transfer the defence estate officer’s office from Bengaluru to Karwar, but it has not materialized, Under the Sagarmala Yojana, the union government has agreed to develop Tadadi port in Kumta taluk, he said.
