Puttur: A man was arrested and booked under POCSO Act on for allegedly raping a girl at Bannur Nekkila here in Puttur on Friday.
The arrested accused has been identified as Balachandra Acharya (34), a resident of Bannur Nekkila. Balachandra worked as an astrologer.
According to sources, the girl along with her family had approached Balachandra on 3rd March in order to discuss some matters about what stars hold for them and remedial action to address the problems faced by them. He in turn, asked the girl’s parents to wait outside while he took her to his room.
The parents later realized that they had doomed themselves as they found out that their girl had been raped by the accused. A complaint was filed in connection to this on Friday.
Following the complaint, the police registered the case and arrested the accused. He was remanded two week’s judicial custody after being produced to the court.
