Bhatkal: Clicking a selfie landed two girls under trouble after the photo with defaming character went viral on social media. The photoshopped image had a boy belonging to another community standing behind the girls and the girls' pictures were photoshopped nude. The viral message along with the photo had an information saying that the boy is currently touring in Goa along with the girls. However, the family members of the girls have filed the complaint against the unknown miscreants in the Murdeshwar police station and one person has been arrested in this regard. Uttar-Kannada SP Vinayak Patil said that the case will be handled very strictly and no mercy will be shown on the guilty.

It is said that two girls, one belonging to Gonda community and another Moger community, had clicked a selfie standing on the college corridor. Accidentally, a boy belonging to Muslim community passed from their back, during which he too gets clicked in the photo. Some miscreants, however, were successful in getting the photo on their cellphones. Shamefully, the miscreants photoshopped the picture to that extent that it was defaming the students and gave it a communal color saying it was a 'Love Jihad'. The photoshopped image went viral in most of the groups in the town in such a way that not only those two girls but also their family members are feeling shame to come out of their houses.

In a message that was circulated along with a photo, a particular college's name was also mentioned saying that the boys from Muslim community are involved in 'Love Jihad' with the non-Muslim girls in that college.

It is believed that some miscreants wanted to distract the peace of the town by spreading hatred in social media by playing with the reputation of young students. However, the family members of both the girls along with the locals in huge number gathered near Murdeshwar police station demanding to trace out the accused behind the entire shameful act and asked them to take severe action in this regard.

As the information was alerted, Bhatkal In-Charge DySP J.D Nayak reached Murdeshwar police station and controlled the crowd and assured that the accused behind this shameful incident will not be shown any mercy and will be dealt very tightly.

Speaking to SahilOnline over the phone, Uttar-Kannada superintendent of police, Mr. Vinayak Patil said that it's a shameful incident trying to defame those two innocent girls and police will be handling this case very strictly to catch the accused behind this shameful act. Bhatkal police have been advised to investigate the matter and trace out the accused as soon as possible, he said. He further added saying that no sympathy will be shown on the accused and the action taken will be very strict. He appealed the locals to refrain from forwarding those photos on social media if received.
