Ullal: A group of people gheraoed Food and Civil Supplies Minister UT Khader when he was about to visit family members of BJP worker Zubair on Friday.

Zubair was murdered on October4. The residents alleged that Khader was indirectly responsible for Zubair’s murder and flayed him for not attending Zubair’s funeral. The group almost pushed the minister and his supporters back for quite some distance and did not allow them to visit the family members.

A request by the minister and his supporters went in vain. Left with no choice, the minister returned. As he returned, a few miscreants pelted stones. But no vehicle was damaged or no person suffered any injuries.

MP welcomed

Minutes after, when MP Nalin Kumar Kateel arrived, he was welcomed. He met Zubair’s family members and consoled them.

Later addressing media persons, the MP charged that the murder was politically motivated. Stating that the role of drug addicts is evident in most of the untoward incidents in the district, he said that the failure of the state government in curbing the drug menace has resulted in Zubair’s murder and two other murders in Farangipet.

Meanwhile, BJP district general secretary Dr Muneer Bawa has agreed to take care of the education of all the six children of Zubair. The family of Zubair is economically weak and he was the only bread winner of the family, he added.
