Bhatkal: The number of stray dogs in Bhatkal has significantly increased, leading to a growing concern as no efforts are being made to address the issue. Dog attacks resulting in injuries have become a daily occurrence. The most recent incident took place on Saturday afternoon, involving two separate attacks in Makhdoom Colony and Dongarpalli, which left three individuals injured.

In the first incident, a child was attacked by a dog in Makhdoom Colony, and a school van driver rushed to the child's aid. However, the dog redirected its aggression towards the driver, causing serious injuries to both of them. They were subsequently transported to the government hospital for treatment. Shortly after, another incident occurred in Dongarpalli, a low-lying area of Makhdoom Colony, where another child sustained injuries in a similar dog attack. The incidents occurred between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm on Saturday.

The individuals who were injured have been identified as Ali Malpa (5) from Makhdoom Colony, school van driver Abu Muhammad (50) from Tengingundi, and Ibrahim Siyan Siddibapa from Dongarpalli.

According to sources, the school van had arrived in Makhdoom Colony to drop off a student. As the child stepped out of the van, a dog suddenly pounced and bit the child's hand. In an attempt to save the child, the driver intervened and was subsequently attacked by the dog. The driver, Abu Muhammad, suffered severe bites on his head, hands, legs, and chest, resulting in serious injuries. Meanwhile, the child, in pain and distress from the dog bite on his hand, was crying.

The second incident occurred in Dongarpalli when Ibrahim Siyan was walking outside his house with his father, Moosa Siddibapa. Suddenly, a dog attacked the child. Moosa mentioned that he was present with his son and tried to prevent further harm to him, as causing harm to the child would have made the situation more difficult.

All three individuals have been taken to Bhatkal Government Hospital for treatment.
