Uttar Kannada District Press Day observed in Gokarna

Kumta: Uttar Kannada District Working Journalists Association along with Gokarna Journalists Association jointly observed 'Press day' at Brahmana Parishat hall in Gokarna of Kumta taluq on Sunday, July 15.

The event which began at 11:30 AM was inaugurated by Kumta-Honnavar constituency MLA Dinakar Shetty. 

Speaking after inaugurating, MLA expressed his happiness over the interest of journalism in most of the youth of Uttar Kannada district. He asked the journalists to highlight whatever the fact is, irrespective of either it is of a politician or an government officer. "Honesty among the journalists play an important role for the development and unity in the society", he noted.

Present as the guest speaker, a literary scholar, Jayanth Kaikini explained about how the Literature studies will improve humanity. "Journalists should be capable to make self review. It is possible to telecast, highlight or publish the fact news only if we keep our mind clean", he said.

Meanwhile, Journalist from Gokarna, Shridhar Adige was honoured with K.Shamrao award, while managing editor of SahilOnline, Inayatullah Gawai and a Journalist from Joida, Panduranga Patgar were honoured with GS Hegde Ajjebala award.

On this occasion, Karnataka State Working Journalists Association president NR Raju, Sanekatta high school president Nagaraj Hittalamakki, PSI Santosh Kumar, Uttar Kannada district unit president G. Subraya Bhat and others were present on the dias.

Krishna Murti Hebbar introduced the guests. Mahabala Upadya welcomed the guests and the audience, while vote of thanks was delivered by Ravi Suri.
