
Bhatkal: A private school van collided with a lorry on the Bhatkal National Highway, leaving the van driver and a female staff member injured. Both were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The accident took place around 12:30 PM on Monday when the eight-seater school van was heading back to school after dropping off students in Muglihonda. Near Quality Hotel, the van reportedly tried to overtake another vehicle but ended up colliding with an oncoming lorry. Fortunately, no students were onboard at the time.
The van driver, Mohammad Isham (22), a resident of Rahmatabad, Madina Colony, suffered serious injuries and was initially treated at Bhatkal Government Hospital before being shifted to Mangalore for further medical care. The van staff member, identified as Shehnaz Fayaz (24) from Muglihonda, was first treated at the government hospital and later moved to a private hospital.
The van sustained significant damage in the collision.
