Bhatkal: A memorandum was submitted by the members of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Bhatkal unit, to the Heble Panchayat demanding proper waste disposal facilities in areas such as Madeena Colony.
Due to the absence of any waste disposal facilities, the people have developed a habit of throwing garbage wherever they find an empty space. The people living in Mina Road near Madeena Colony in the city are facing trouble due to waste disposal on the roadside and it has become difficult even for vehicles to travel from here.
Due to this, there are even chances of diseases spreading in the area and affecting the children who live there. The SDPI has demanded the Panchayat to handle the cleaning up of the area as soon as possible.
Even though the people here had complained in this regard to the Heble Panchayat before, no action was taken. In addition to this, people also are facing problems with water supply and street lights.
SDPI district secretary Zaheer Ahmed, members Sarfaraz Khan, Abdul Azeem, Mohammed Akif Gawai and others were present while submitting the memorandum.
