Seabird land-losers to stage dharna on December 28 in Karwar

Karwar: Seabird Landlosers Union convener Ravindra Amdalli informed that the people who lost their land for the Seabird Project will stage a dharna on December 28. They also submit a memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during his visit to Karwar tomorrow, 6 December, urging him to exert pressure on the Union Government to release the pending compensation.

In his press conference Ravidra old reporters that around 4,000 people had to part with their agriculture land and houses for the project. But even after 30 years, the land-losers have not got additional compensation.

In 2012, the Supreme Court had ordered the government to give Rs 11,500 per gunta as compensation, but nothing has been materialised so far. In addition to this, the Union Government had promised employment to the land-losers in Navy, but many people have not got jobs so far, he added.
