Ankola: The search for three missing individuals, including Kerala driver Arjun, who vanished following a landslide in Shirur NH66, ten days ago, will persist through Thursday night utilizing drone services, according to Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi Priya.

Speaking to the press at the landslide site, Lakshmi Priya detailed the ongoing efforts, noting that thermal scanners would be employed to detect human presence, leveraging the cooler night temperatures for better results. She emphasized the necessity of waiting for the water flow to weaken to ensure the safety of the search teams, stating, "We cannot risk more lives."

A preliminary report by Major M. Indrabalan and his team indicated signals from three distinct locations in the affected area, with multiple signals detected at one of these sites. Based on inspections conducted on Thursday night and Friday morning, the search operation will progress to the next phase.

Major Indrabalan explained that once the truck is located, Navy divers will be deployed to search the area. However, the strong undercurrents, reaching up to six knots, currently pose a significant challenge, as divers can only safely operate in currents up to three knots.

During a media briefing, Karwar MLA Satish Sail, Uttara Kannada SP M. Narain, and several other senior officials were present, providing updates on the ongoing rescue efforts and the challenges faced.
