Siddapur: A man was arrested by the local police here on Saturday evening on the charges of sexually harassing a minor girl at the time when she was returning to home after finishing her school hours.

The arrested accused has been identified as Nagesh Ramachandra Naik (35), a resident of Vanalli in Kumta.

According to the sources, the accused tried to harass the girl sexually when she was returning to home from her school in the evening on Saturday, 10th March. The incident happened near Dodmane gram limits of Siddapur taluk. Fearing the harassment, the girl shouted on the road, which grabbed the nearby locals attention and were successful in catching the accused who was preparing to escape from the spot.

A case has been registered under the POCSO act in Siddapur police station and further investigations are on.
