Bhatkal: In the annual ceremony of Bhatkal’s renowned Naunihal Central School, the prestigious Shaan-e-Naunihal Gold Medal for the academic year 2022-23 was awarded to the brilliant student Aysha D/o Imtiyaz Hussain Fakarde, and for the year 2023-24, Abdul Nafi S/o Abdullah Khattal was honored for showcasing their exceptional talent. This prestigious award is given annually to the student who has demonstrated outstanding performance not only in academics across the 8th, 9th, and 10th grades, but also in extracurricular activities, and has passed the matriculation exams with top honors.
It is worth noting that last year, many organizations and institutions in Bhatkal canceled their events due to Israel's persecution and attacks on Palestine. As a result, Naunihal Central School also canceled their annual ceremony. This year, however, the award for the previous year was presented in the presence of hundreds of attendees at the event.
Under Muslim management, Naunihal has made a name for itself by consistently achieving 100% results in the SSLC exams, setting a benchmark for academic excellence in the entire taluk. The school also offers Quranic memorization (Hifz) for interested students. Notably, eleven students from the school successfully completed the memorization of the Quran and were honored for their achievement.
A special event was organized on 8th November at Ameena Palace in town to honor the students who had completed the memorization of the Quran. During this ceremony, all the Hafizaat-e-Quran (those who have memorized the entire Quran) were felicitated and awarded certificates. Additionally, the school’s top-performing students were also recognized for their exceptional achievements.
Fatima Veeda Siddiqui, Deputy Administrator of the school, hosted the event and presented the overall school report. The Lower Primary Report was presented by Cyma Khatib (Section In-charge), followed by the Higher Primary Report presented by Tanim Syed (Section In-charge). The Hifz Awards were announced by Mohsina Goltay, Islamiyat In-charge, and the medals were handed over by the Hifz teachers on stage.
The mothers of the Hifz students, along with alumni from the Hifz section, were called on stage to share their experiences and reflections on their journey of becoming Hafiza.
The announcements were made by the Grade 10 students, and the event featured several exciting programs, including awareness presentations on societal norms, stunts performed by boys, and a self-defense demonstration in Karate by the high school girls.
In addition to recognizing the students, this year, several Grade 10 teachers were also honored for their exceptional contributions. Teachers who achieved a 100% result in their respective subjects were awarded trophies and cash prizes. Furthermore, other teachers were recognized with special titles in acknowledgment of their outstanding performance and dedication to the school's success
On 9th November, the Boys' Program was held, where other talented boys were recognized and felicitated, including the recipient of the prestigious Shaan-e-Naunihal Award, Abdul Nafi. A highlight of the ceremony was the launch of a book compiled by Maulavi Syed Ali Raza S M Nadvi, detailing the life, services, and impressions of the late Muzaffar Kola, the founder of Naunihal Central School.
On this occasion, the well-known religious scholar from Bangalore, Hazrath Moulana Mohammed Shakirullah Rashadi, was present as the chief guest. He highlighted the importance of education and encouraged the students to pursue higher education in order to serve both the community and the nation. Maulana Ilyas Jakti Nadvi, a prominent religious scholar from Bhatkal, was also in attendance.
Both functions of the annual program were presided over by Mr. Aouf Kola, Vice Chairman of the school. School Principal Gul Afroz, along with other key officials, including Shabeeb Kola, Abdullah Kola and Shawoor Kola, as well as school teachers and staff, were also present.
