Mangaluru(DHNS):  AICC Social Media and Digital Platforms chairperson Supriya Shrinate lashed out at Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his comments that Karnataka would see riots if the BJP was not voted back to power.

Speaking to reporters in the city on Sunday, Shrinate asked, “Why must the home minister use this filthy language? Why must he spread panic and fear? Why must he threaten Karnataka? You are aware that we aren’t just seeking legal remedy, but have also petitioned the election commission on it?”

“Earlier, BJP national president J P Nadda had insulted the people of Karnataka by stating that they will be devoid of Modi’s blessings if the BJP fails to come to power. Does the PM bless people in a democracy and whether the statement is not a threat to the federal rights of Karnataka?” she asked.

Shrinate said, “The BJP has realised that it will lose the election. That’s why they are all talking about what will happen if they don’t come to power instead of stating what will happen if they do.”

The Congress leader argued that the people were wearied down by ‘40% Commission Sarkara’ and want ‘PayCM’ out. There is no sector which has not seen corruption. The Prime Minister chose not to speak a word on the state or on promises made to people or on rampant corruption during his address in the election rallies.

“Despite having enough potentials, Mangaluru failed to attract big investments as no investor wants to put money in a place which has communal tension and is used as a hate laboratory by the BJP. The BJP has won Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency for 35 years now, but have done precious little for the constituency,” she added.

Speaking about the Congress’ vision for the coastal areas, she said that the party’s manifesto has emphasized on prioritising the development of the coastal region, by creating employment, investment, tourism and harmonious growth.
