New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Monday expressed confidence that the Congress government in the state will be voted to power again in 2028.

Shivakumar, who was in the national capital, also said he is not a leader who confronts but who believes in working together.

Speaking to reporters here, the CM said he had predicted that the Congress would get 136 out of 224 and even after polling before the results, he had given the same number.

"This government in Karnataka will repeat. We are a transparent government and we will repeat this government," Shivakumar said.

He also said he believes in working together.

"I am not a leader to confront anyone. I am a leader who works together. I always say joining together is the beginning, discussing together is progress, working together is success," he said.

Earlier, the Karnataka CM met Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil and sought early clearances for several key water resource projects in the state, including the Rs 16,745-crore Mekedatu Balancing Reservoir and Drinking Water Project.

The Congress won 135 seats in the last assembly polls in Karnataka and formed the government under Siddaramaiah.

Shivakumar took oath as Karnataka CM in June this year, after Siddaramaiah resigned.
