Jaipur: The Rajasthan Police have apprehended eight individuals, among them the husband of a 20-year-old tribal woman, following an alleged incident in which she was stripped naked and paraded in a village within the Pratapgarh district. This incident occurred on Saturday and was reported by the Indian Express, citing official sources.

According to the report, the shocking incident, which took place on August 31, came to public attention after a video of the incident went viral on social media on Friday night. Police have revealed that the victim was pregnant.

Quoting IG S Parimala of the Banswara range, the report also alleges that the husband, who is the primary suspect, was incensed after the victim, who was four to five months pregnant, had moved in with her lover two weeks prior.

"The victim had been living with the accused, her second husband, for the past year," stated IG Parimala.

Pratapgarh SP Amit Kumar, as quoted in the report, added that the woman's husband and her in-laws were upset because she had been residing with another man for some time. "Her husband, along with his associates, located the place where the woman was staying with the other man and subsequently abducted her before subjecting her to the ordeal of being stripped and paraded," explained the officer.

The SP also noted that both the victim and the accused belonged to a tribal community.

On Saturday, Rajasthan DGP Umesh Mishra disclosed that those in custody included a juvenile and three individuals who had witnessed the crime, according to the report.
