Sirsi: Burglars struck at a house in Indiranagar area in the city on the late night of 28th October, Saturday and decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth of lakhs.
Sources informed that the thieves entered the house by breaking the main door when the occupants were out in Hubli for personal work. The house belonged to a local betelnut merchant Shivram Krishna Hegde. As per the information received, the crooks made away with gold ornaments weighing more than 100 grams along with cash amount of ten thousand rupees.
The incident came to light on Sunday afternoon when the occupants returned home. They saw the household equipment spread all over the floor in the house. Immediately the information was given to the Sirsi police, after which the police personnel along with dog squad rushed to the spot and conducted necessary investigations.
A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
