Sirsi: An alarming incident occurred at a residence in the city's Yellapur Naka, where an unidentified person approached an isolated woman, requested water, and subsequently snatched her gold necklace before fleeing.

The incident took place in broad daylight on Wednesday around 12 noon and victimized Geeta Naik, the wife of former MP Devraya Naik. Sources report that she was alone in her house when an unknown individual, posing as someone in need of water, forcefully removed her necklace.

The estimated value of the stolen jewelry is Rs 3 lakh, with the snatched chain weighing approximately 60 grams.

Sirsi Marukatte Police promptly visited the scene of the incident and initiated investigations.
