Udupi: A tragic accident occurred here on NH66 near Katpadi where a speeding tanker rammed into a bike, killing the rider on spot on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Guruprasad (26) s/o Thomu Poojari, a resident of Katapady in the district.

According to sources, the accident occurred when Guruprasad was on his way home on his bike. The tanker which was on its way from Udupi to Mangaluru, lost control due to over speeding and rammed into his bike.

Guruprasad was critically injured and died on the spot. However, the tanker driver escaped from the spot unharmed.

A case has been registered at Kaup police station.
