Bhatkal: Since the past few months, thefts have become common in Bhatkal. After regular incidents of theft during night and thieves breaking into locked houses, now a case has been reported where a robbery has occurred in broad daylight.
The incident occurred at a house in Bandar road first cross here where the family left for a relative’s house at around 4:00pm on 25th January, Thursday. However, when they returned at night around 9:00pm they found that the house had been robbed.
The theft took place at ‘Abu Bahar House’ belonging to Usman Damudi. The thieves entered from the backyard of the house by jumping through the compound wall. Then they cut a hole through the window net to get inside the house.
It is suspected that a kid was sent through the window hole and he opened up the door for the thieves. They then entered into a bed room by breaking the door lock and tried to break open the cupboards. However, they were only able to break open one of the cupboards while the other was completely damaged by then.
The burglars found an amount of Rs. 25,000 in the cupboard. However, they were not able to steal any jewellery or any other such valuables from the house.
A case has been registered at Bhatkal Town police station.
