Bhatkal: Thieves made away with more than 500 gm gold ornaments and Rs 5 lakh cash from the seat box of a scooter belonging to the owner of Vimaleshwar Jewellery Works Uday Shet, near Old Bus Stand, in the town, on Tuesday night.

The incident took place, when Uday had gone for purchasing fruits after closing his shop.

He said, valuables including ear rings, chain and Rs 5 lakh cash were robbed.

Uday Shet who suffered high blood pressure following the incident was admitted to a private hospital.

A case has been registered at Bhatkal town police Station.
