Udupi: A robbery was reported here where thieves broke into a house near Vidadaya College and escaped with cash and gold ornaments worth lakhs on 18th February, Sunday.
The house where the robbery occurred belongs to Suryakumar Shet, a resident of Vadiraja in the district.
According to sources, the house was unoccupied for the past 15 days since Suryakumar had been hospitalised due to sickness. His son was also staying with him at the hospital.
However, when Shet’s son returned home on Sunday he found that the main door lock was broken. Thieves had broken into the house and ransacked all the rooms and cupboards.
