Bhatkal: The Alvas Moodbidri team defeated the popular MEG Bengaluru team to acquire the championship title at the finals of the state level Kabaddi tournament held under the aeigis of Katteveera sports club Bhatkal at the Guru Sudhindra College ground, Bhatkal.
During the finals of the tournament, surrounded by thousands of Kabaddi lovers who were enjoying the thrill of the match, the Alvas team defeated their opponent by seven points after the final scoreboard reached ’30-23’.
Although the Alvas team seemed to lose during the first half of the final match, they gave a wonderful comeback after the halftime and defeated their opponents by showing overwhelming performance.
Alvas team member Jaswant showed outstanding skills during the second half of the finals and that is what led the team to victory. Alvas Moodbidri team acquired the championship title and returned home along with a beautiful trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh.
The runners up of the tournament MEG Bengaluru team received a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. The Bhatkal Katteveera team acquired the third place in the tournament.
Best raider was awarded to Manjunath from MEG Bengaluru, Best catcher to Jaswant from Alvas and Best All-rounder was awarded to Sachin Gowda from Katteveera team.
Alvas had reached the finals after defeating the CQML team from Bengaluru in the semi-finals while MEG Bengaluru had defeated Katteveera team in the semi-finals and reached the finals.
Around 16 teams from various districts had participated in the state level Kabaddi tournament organised by the Katteveera sports club, Bhatkal.
