Kumta: Three people were injured after the car in which they were traveling hit a roadside tree in the accident that happened near Katgal region of Kumta taluk on June 28, Thursday evening.

The injured trio was identified as Ramakanth Hegde, Ramadas Hegde, and Ashraya Hegde. All are said to be the residents of Kabgar of Siddapur taluk.

The victims were immediately brought to Kumta government hospital for initial treatment. Later they were taken to Sirsi for more treatments.

According to the sources, the negligence and reckless driving are suspected as the reason for the accident. Also, it is said that the driver was intoxicated.

As the information was alerted, Kumta police rushed near the spot and conducted the necessary investigations. A case has been registered in Kumta police station.
