Honnavar: Traffic jam for a stretch of more than 5 kilometers was affected on either side of Honnavar-Kumta highway after a speeding truck and tanker collide head-on near Karki railway station cross on NH66 in the taluk.

Sources informed that the accident happened when truck having registration number 'KA 20 D 6655' was heading towards Kumta from Honnavar, while gas tanker bearing registration number 'AP 16 TW 7789' was in the opposite direction. Both had a face-to-face collision, resulting in the serious injuries for tanker driver.

Due to the accident, the traffic was badly affected on the highway from either side. However, some of them managed to take an alternate route via Honnavar-Chandavar-Kumta road which avoids Honnavar-Kumta highway.

As the news spread, Honnavar CPI Cheluvaraj, PSI Ravi, and the team rushed to the spot and were successful in clearing the traffic.
