Bhatkal: A huge tree fell on a moving train resulting inthe death of one passenger, while three others were injured. The incident occurred around 6:30 pm on Tuesday at Ballnir area near Canacona railway station in Goa.

According to the sources, the Mangaluru-CST express train was on its way to Mumbai from Mangalore. It is said that due to heavy wind with rain, a tree fell on it.

According to railway police in Karwar, the passengers who were sitting on the door steps or near the door might have crushed under the tree resulting in the injury of some and death of one person.

He added that the train had left at 17:45 from Karwar station, and as it was passing through Ballnir region at around 18:30, there was a heavy blow of wind outside which caused a tree to fall over it.

A Bhatkali passenger travelling on the same train who has forwarded a Whatsapp voice message about the incident, claimed that three passengers were also injured in the incident, one among whom hailed from Bhatkal. 

According to Railway officials, the train continued its onward journey towards Mumbai soon after the incident.
