Udupi: Two teenagers, aged 17 years and 18 years, drowned in a rivulet near Uppoor in Udupi district on Tuesday. However, their bodies were retrieved on Wednesday.

The victims were identified as Anas from Varamballi and Shreyas from Chantharu in Brahmavar taluk.

Three boys, including the victims, had gone to swim in the rivulet near Uggelbettu in Uppoor village on Tuesday noon. However, Anas and Shreyas drowned in the water. Out of fear, Sanjay Raj fled from the spot and did not inform the incident to the parents of the victims.

On Tuesday evening, the parents of Shreyas and Anas grew suspicion as the duo had not returned home and brought the issue to the notice of Brahmavara police station. Upon questioning, Sanjay Raj revealed that the duo had drowned in the river.
