Two from Gadag killed in Sirsi road accident

Karwar: Two persons were killed on the spot and 10 others were injured when a truck and a Trax Cruiser collided head-on near Ragihosalli in Sirsi taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Friday night.

 According to Sirsi rural police, Ramesh Kandappa Chitragar (60) and his relative Krishnabai Veerappa Chitragar (58) died on the spot. The injured have been admitted to Sirsi Padith Hospital. All of them hail from Ron town in Gadag district. The mishap occurred when they were returning to their hometown after visiting Gokarna Sri Mahabaleshwara temple on Friday night. The truck was heading to Kumta from Sirs. A case has been registered at Sirsi rural police station.

Two killed in accident

 Karwar: Two people were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a two-wheeler and a car at Yadalli village in Sirsi taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Saturday evening. According to Sirsi rural police, two-wheeler rider Manjunath Ganapati Bhat (50) of Amachki village in Siddapur taluk and Nagaveni Krishna Bhat (75) of Hubballi, who was travelling in the car, died on the spot. The speeding car was heading to Hubballi from Varadalli. While overtaking another vehicle, it hit the two-wheeler, which was heading towards Siddapur from Sirsi.

Two die in mishap

 Mysuru: Two people were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a bike and a canter at Naganahalli under Bettapura police station limits of K R Nagar on Saturday. The deceased are Mahadev (68) and Manju (30). They were returning to their village after taking part in a festival.

 Mother, daughter drown in Tunga River

 Shivamogga: A 37-year-old woman and her 17-year-old daughter from Mahishi village drowned in Tiratahalli. The woman has been identified as Chandrakumari, wife of Shivamogga’s Income Tax official Narayan. The two were on their way to Ashwathnarayana Temple when the incident occurred. Chandrakumari and her daughter Sandhya went for a dip in the Tunga River only to be carried away by strong waves. While Sandhya’s body has been recovered, the search for her mother’s body is on.
