Puttur: In a incident, two workers were killed, while other four sustained injuries when earth caved in on them at a construction site in Puttur town on April 24, Tuesday morning.

The deceased are identified as Shivanna, native of Kushtagi, and Padmanabha, a resident of Jalligudde in Mangaluru.

Sources said that the incident took place when six men were engaged in work 30 ft below the ground level near Nellikatte. A mound adjacent to the work site gave way and the workers got stuck in it.

As the news spread, Fire brigade and Emergency Services personnel launched rescue operations with the help of earth movers and rescued four of them.
