Kasargod: Two women and a child lost their lives in a tragic accident which occurred here near Manjeshwar railway station where the trio was crushed to death by a train engine on 31st January, Wedneday.
The deceased have been identified as Ayesha (45), her sister Amina (43) and her son Taamil (3), all residents of Satyadka here.
According to sources, they were returning home after shopping when the tragedy occurred. The trio was crossing the railway track after waiting for a train moving from Chennai to Kasargod pass the tracks.
However, they did not notice that a bogie-less engine of another train moving from Mangaluru to Kasargod was on another track next to it. The speeding engine rammed into them causing death on spot.
A case has been registered at Manjeshwar police station.
