Udupi: Deputy Commissioner K Vidyakumari has launched task forces at the taluk level, assigning them the crucial responsibility of preventing water scarcity among the public.
During the District Disaster Management Authority meeting at the DC office on Thursday, she addressed the water crisis, stressing the importance of not overlooking the needs of animals for food and water. Noting a 22% rainfall deficit in the district, with only 3,525 mm compared to the normal 4,535 mm, Vidyakumari called for urgent measures to address water scarcity.
She specifically urged the provision of water through tankers, especially in the drought-hit taluks of Karkala, Hebri, and Brahmavara.
