Udupi: A gang of miscreants forced their way into a house at Pitrody, Udyawar near here on 15th February, Thursday and savagely attacked a youth.
The victim of the attack was Vidnal D'Souza, a resident of Pitrody here.
According to sources, a quarrel had aroused between the local villagers and the son-in-law of Udyawar gram panchayat member Girish about the widening of road at Chullukudru. Girish had refused to allow the road widening in front of the residence of his father-in-law Sugandhi and Vidnal was among the villagers who had resented the rude behaviour of Giriraj and rebuked him.
Due to this, Giriraj, assisted by his accomplices Sanjeeva and Vijeeth, allegedly entered Visnal’s house and attacked him. However, the locals rushed to the spot hearing Vidnal’s scream and retained the car in which the accused had arrived on the spot.
Although the accused were able to flee from the spot, a case regarding the incident was registered at Kaup police station following which Sanjeeva and Vijeeth were arrested while Giriraj is abscounding.
