Udupi: A teenage girl Namratha (17) lost her life on Wednesday due to multiple organ failures caused by the overdose of drugs prescribed by an Ayurvedice practitioner.
She was a first year PU student and resident of Parkala Agrahara in Udupi.
According to the sources, Namratha was bothered by a problem faced by most of the teenagers i.e ‘pimples’ and in order to get rid of it, she had approached an Ayurvedic practitioner who in turn had prescribed some allopathic tablets to her.
However, after the consumption of these tablets, Namratha was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru on Saturday due to high fever. She was diagnosed with drug overdose and suffered multiple organ failures due to the same. The doctors told her parents that chances of her survival were bleak.
Namartha breathed her last on 10th January and as a mark of respect, the next day was declared as holiday. However, it is still unknown how the tablets had been advised to be consumed. No Complaint has yet been filed.
