Udupi: The district police returned recovered valuables worth Rs 90.73 lakh to its owners at DAR Grounds in Udupi.

The initiative was taken by Superintendent of Police Vishnuvardhan. As many as 312 cases were solved by the police from 2020 to 2021. The total gold and cash recovered was worth Rs 90,78,563.

The SP said the gold ornaments were handed over to its owners after verifying the details.

Vishnuvardhan told media persons that 151 cases were reported in 2020 and the recovered properties were worth Rs 58,47,375.

In 2021, 161 cases were reported and the police recovered properties worth Rs 32,31,188 . Measures were taken to hand over the items to their rightful owners, he added.
