Udupi: Karkala police have seized 30 indigenous country-made bombs and have arrested three persons in this regard. The arrested accused has been identified as Nagesh Nayak, Gunaker Shetty and Laxman Shetty.
According to sources the accused Nayak told police that he was in possession of the bombs to safeguard himself from the wild animal menace.
Police Superintendent Dr. Sanjeev Patil told reporters that Nayak was allegedly involved in manufacturing the indigenous country-made bombs. The police have arrested him first and seized 30 bombs from his possession. He hails from Hebri and based on information provided by him, police also arrested Gunaker Shetty from Karkala. Nayak said he had purchased the bombs from Gunaker.
Police then arrested Laxman Shetty from Madamakki for assisting Nayak. The police also have information about where the accused purchased the raw materials and also the process of manufacturing. Nayak purchased 30 bombs after paying 15,000 rupees, said police sources.
