Udupi Records 5,919, DK 7,807 Voters Preferring Home Voting

Udupi: In Udupi, 5,919 voters and in DK, 7,807 voters chose to cast their ballots from the comfort of their homes. The Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency boasted an impressive 97.03% turnout among those who voted remotely.

Of the 6,100 individuals who elected to vote from home in Udupi, an overwhelming majority of 5,919 successfully participated in the electoral process. The Election Commission of India facilitated this option particularly for voters above 85 years old and individuals with disabilities, resulting in 4,664 elderly citizens and 1,436 PwD voters choosing to utilize this service. Among them, 4,512 senior citizens and 1,407 PwD voters successfully cast their votes.

Across various regions in Udupi, such as Kundapura, Kaup, and Karkala, numerous senior citizens and PwD voters exercised their right to vote from home, contributing to the overall turnout. The administration ensured a smooth process by arranging visits from polling station officials, assistant officers, BLOs, and micro observers to distribute necessary materials. Those who missed their scheduled voting opportunity were given a second chance, but those who still didn't participate won't be allowed to vote during the polling day on April 26.

In Dakshina Kannada (DK) district, a staggering 97.47% of voters who opted to vote from home successfully exercised their franchise. DK recorded the highest number of voters opting for the home voting facility in the state, with a total of 8,010 voters availing of this service, of which 7,807 participated.

A significant portion of these voters comprised citizens aged above 85 years and persons with disabilities, with 5,878 elderly voters and 1,929 PwDs casting their votes remotely. The district administration ensured a seamless process, allowing citizens to participate in the electoral process conveniently from their homes.
