Udupi: The police have filed a case against the leaders of right-wing organizations for launching a signature campaign against 'Love Jihad' around the educational institutions here at Udupi.
Filing the case under Suo Moto, sub-inspector Narayan, said, the case was filed after he saw a group of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders near MGM college had gathered protesting and were seen distributing pamphlets when he was on the daily routine with his other staffs in the city. The Bajrang Dal leaders present there were Vilas Naik, Sunil KR, Dinesh Menden, Surendra Koteshwar, Dinesh Shetty, Lokesh Shetty, VHP leader Vishwa Suvarna, Durga Vahini leader Padma Ratnakar, Bhagya Shree Aythal and others were present.
Police sources said that after investigations, it was revealed from the protestors that the campaign was launched to raise awareness among boys and girls against 'Love Jihad'.
Since they did not take any permission from the district administration or police department for this campaign and had gathered on the road disturbing the public, the case has been registered under Section 149 (Code of Criminal) against these people.
