Udupi: ‘Eradicate inequality to protect Human Rights’

Udupi:  Eradication of inequality will help protect human rights, said DC M Kurma Rao. 

He was speaking at a programme organised to mark Human Rights Day at the Zilla Panchayat Hall.

Udupi Human Rights Foundation president Dr Ravindranath Shanbhag said that human rights violation cases have increased after the Covid-19 pandemic. Human rights violation of senior citizens had increased three times. All should strive to protect the rights of the senior citizens, underprivileged, differently-abled, women and children. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner Balakrishnappa administered an oath. Udupi Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr Y Naveen Bhat, Superintendent of Police Vishnuvardhan and others were present. 

Red Cross 

The Indian Red Cross Society of Udupi and Dr G Shankar Government Women’s First Grade College observed Human Rights Day at the Red Cross Bhavana in Ajjarakadu. 

Udupi Human Rights Foundation president Dr Ravindranath Shanbhag inaugurated the programme. Grocery kits were distributed to the families who lost their members to Covid-19. Red Cross Society president Sabhapathi Basrur Rajeev Shetty also spoke.
