Udupi: Udupi Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao said stringent action will be taken against private hospitals, registered under Ayushman Bharat, that decline beds to the Covid-19 infected patients.
He told reporters after participating in a meeting with private hospital heads that hospitals should reserve beds as per the government instructions for Covid-19 patients.
Private hospitals not complying with the government's directions would face charges under KPME and Disaster Management Act, he added.
The private hospitals should update the district administration on SARI and ILI infections. All details, including expenses incurred to treat Covid-19 infected, should be clearly mentioned. There should not be any delay in shifting the patients if the latter need better treatment, said the deputy commissioner.
Adequate information should be given to patients on the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, he said.
Rao added that the appointed nodal officers should be conducting regular inspections.
Any problem should be brought to the notice of district administration, he added.
