Udupi: Sleuths attached to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided the office of the Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) and recovered cash over Rs 2.5 lakh from UUDA assistant town planner Guruprasad.

Another assistant town planner Naima Sayyid and clerk Shivaprasad were also taken into custody by the ACB sleuths for further investigation.

Sources in the ACB said that Guruprasad and Naima were accepting bribe in order to grant a license for commercial purposes.

One Reshma Nayak, who was in need of a license, had approached the UUDA office. Guruprasad had allegedly demanded Rs 4 lakh initially from Reshma and had agreed to complete the job for Rs 2.5 lakh.

The ACB sleuths were tipped about the demand for bribe from Reshma, who caught the accused Guruprasad red-handed, on Thursday.

The raid was conducted by a team led by ACB Superintendent of Police Simon.
