Vigilance geared up at check posts for polls in Uttar-Kannada

Karwar: The vigilance across the district to prevent any violation of the model code of conduct have increased by district administration and the police department. To monitor the movement of vehicles, CCTV cameras have been installed at various check posts.

Speaking to media, Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul said, the administration has set up nearly 30 check posts in district, three-four check posts in each of the taluks.

In the first installment, the administration has set up CCTV cameras in 10 centres and in the next 3-4 days the remaining centres would also get CCTV cameras, he added.

The video footage of these cameras are live telecast on a screen installed at deputy commissioner and Superintendent of Police offices, through which senior most officials keep a tab on the happenings at these check posts.

Revenue Department officials have also installed four CCTV cameras on the Majali check post on the Goa border. Work on installing a 360 degree high quality picture capturing camera is on. This check post has been installed to make sure that no illegal liquor, weapons and goods without receipts enter the State and district.

Both DC and SP have instructed their respective officials to inspect vehicles that are moving suspiciously. As per their orders strict vigilance has been put across the district and monitoring is taking place round the clock, informed a senior official who did not wished to be named.
