Karwar: Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive officer, L Chandrashekar, who is also Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation district committee President, said it is the responsibility of voters to get their names registered in voters list and get the right to vote.

Interacting with the listeners of All India Radio during a live phone-in programme on voters list here on Friday, he said every citizen aged above 18 can cast their votes, and it is their responsibility to make sure that their names are included in the list. It is the voters who have to make sure that their revised address or any changes required in the list is completed.

He said as per the directions of the Election Commission of India, the district administration is putting in maximum efforts to create awareness among people to list their names in the voters list.

The district administration has also made special arrangements at all taluk level officials to assist voters to enroll their names and make changes. He called upon people to make use of the facilities.

The process of revised voters list is on and January 22 is the last day for inclusion, deletion, change of constituency, rectification in name, address and other issues.

The changes can also be done online, he said and added that election commission website has answer for all their questions.
