Karwar: District Judge V S Dharwadkar stated that all the queries and doubts regarding Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be solved by the newly implemented Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines.

He noted this while speaking during the demonstration drive of EVMs and VVPATs, jointly organised by the Election Commission, District Administration and District SVEEP Committee at City Municipal Council premises in the City on Sunday.

He said, it is a common tendency that people doubt new things and gadgets. Hence, they have doubts regarding EVMs. But, all their doubts will be cleared by the VVPATs, he added.

Every voter above the age of 18 years should exercise their franchise without any materialistic lures given by any political party.

One should help to strengthen the democracy by casting their right to vote, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer L Chandrashekhar Nayak said, as per the directions given by the
election commission, the mock demonstrations are being
held under the SVEEP programme.

Awareness is must among voters to get to know about the newly using technologies in election process, it’s working style and other related
issues.

The mock drives being conducted by the election commission helped people to get to know about VVPATs and EVMs very clearly, he said and added that all the EVMs and VVPATs were inspected for several times.

He said, VVPAT machines help to confirm the votes after the voters cast their vote. The ballet paper will be screened for seven seconds immediately after voting, so that no doubts will be left among the voters. One can leave the polling room after confirming their vote, he added.
